Michael Maze is an infectious disease and respiratory physician at the University of Otago Christchurch. He is a clinician, medical educator and researcher. His research focus is clinical and epidemiological research into infectious disease across New Zealand, and low- and middle-income countries in East Africa and the Pacific. He works on respiratory infections including pneumonia, pleural infections and COVID-19; as well as zoonotic diseases and the intersection between human, animal and environmental health
