Dr Rob Lake
Dr Rob Lake is the Manager of the Risk Assessment and Social Systems Group of the Health and Environment Group. Based in Christchurch, Dr Lake has worked in risk analysis since 1988, principally concerning food safety issues for the Ministry for Primary Industries. Such projects call on information from human and animal health surveillance, environmental data, and consider all transmission routes to understand the epidemiology of infectious diseases.
Over the last ten years, Dr Lake has also been active in World Health Organization sponsored projects, estimating the global burden of foodborne disease, and national food safety system needs assessments. He is also a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry, and a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the New Zealand Food Safety Science and Research Centre.
